About Amara Underwood

The Art Of Observing,
In the business of capturing rural & Equestrain livelihood

What makes me a good photographer?

Compassion and empathy. I’ve always been deeply in tune with the world around me — a sensitivity that can feel like a burden, but also my greatest strength. Life isn’t perfect, but there’s perfection in the smallest moments, and that’s what I live to capture.

I’m invested in your stories. When I’m observing through the lens, your joy becomes my joy. I can feel your focus, your triumph, and the love you radiate for your animals and the rural way of life.

I’ve worked with horses on and off for years — polo, hunt yards, racehorses — and also in hospitality, from backstage bars at big festivals to the cosy country pubs that raised me. Those experiences taught me how events flow and what goes on behind the scenes, so when I photograph an event, I find my rhythm with ease.

I love people. I love meeting them, learning from them, and making connections — especially creative ones. And when I need quiet or time to recharge, you’ll find me at the barn, where everything makes sense again.

Photography experience:

I’ve photographed inmates working with horses in an Irish prison for my final university project, team roping in the heart of the Wild West (Arizona), the British Reining Championships, fun rides, yard open days, and unaffiliated equestrian events.

I’ve also photographed weddings, parties, and christenings, and most recently filmed reels and video content at the 2025 Horse of the Year Show.

Alongside event work, I love fine art and creative portrait photography — telling your stories and creating images you’ll treasure for life.

As I continue building my photography business, I’m excited to make meaningful connections, bring creative visions to life, and — if I’m lucky — fuel my inner adrenaline junkie by traveling and capturing new adventures through my lens.
