What to expect from a shoot with your horse:
These are my favourite types of photos to shoot, from clean portraits or showcasing a brand/sponsors, to making fine art to go on your walls at home, I'm here to bring your vision to life.
The THREE most important resources for us on shoot are:
- Patience (and time). to get the perfect shot, a shoot can be anywhere from two hours onwards, depending on how many outfit and location changes we want to incorporate. As an equestrian myself, I understand the time needed sometimes, to allow your horse to get used to the camera, some are natural posers, some just want to stick their heads down and eat, and some won't stop moving and fidgeting! That's completely okay, these are all things that can be worked around, and it's my job to keep us all relaxed and make the shoot enjoyable.
- Lighting. We ideally want that soft early morning, or late evening golden hour light. Cloudy days are surprisingly good for photographing too, as it creates naturally diffused soft light. This doesn't matter so much if we're shooting in a lush woodland area, indoors or other shelter.
- YOUR vision. We'll talk extensively before the shoot about what YOU want to get out of this. Send me mood boards and Pinterest posts and we can collaborate to plan the shoot. Do you want outfit changes? want specific shots of just your horse? Or if you're not as creatively minded and just want to be guided through the shoot I can help you with that too!
MOST importantly, I need YOU to be enjoying yourself. It sounds cheesy I know, but I also know it can be a little uncomfortable getting in front of the camera, you don't need to feel 'perfect', it's my job to capture your and your horses' beauty, and the bond between you. I won't start shooting until I know you and your horse are relaxed and enjoying yourselves, I want the shots to be candid and relaxed and for you to be having fun and enjoying the experience.
